A look at Curriculum Theory & Art Education
"Visioning embodies and focuses our creative power to visualize and realize new entities in communion with others and with our spirit. Visions always mirror what we deem sacred and intimately important to us. Also, visions relate, and act to integrate, all aspects of our lives (Cajete, 141).

Journey
My Métissage is an integral part of my process on this journey. I was able to follow both my Artistic and Land Practices. "Spirituality evolves from exploring and coming to know and experience the nature of living energy moving in each of us, through us and around us." (Cajete, 44). I found myself in harmony with nature. Being mindful, self aware and body aware to listen to the lessons I continue to learn on my journey.

Enchanting Forest Waterfall
My Art Practice led me into the heart of nature on the Sunshine Coast. I began to explore photography with my late husband's camera. I immersed myself with waterfalls, beaches and forest canopies. The learning curve was steep, but I managed to capture beauty, even if it was blurry and out of focus.
This journey of discovery was an integral part of My Metissage (see website link). I was looking for connections, content and communication. I was connected to the camera, its lenses, case and the lessons it taught me. Patience is necessary with photography. Patience with the subject and myself.

The Flower
The colours are so vibrant in this photo. The flower is almost 3D like and jumps out of the image. This is the process reward of patience and a steep learning curve.

The Blanket
One of my favourite rituals of Viki Kelly's class happened at the beginning of each meeting. We would gather in a circle, acknowledge the Directions, Drum and Lay the Blanket. I found this experience touched me to the core. It built community in a powerful way. I brought the Laying of the Blanket into my drama classes at Burnaby Central. I followed protocol with respect. Students carefully laid the blanket, shells and sage. We then shared as each student spoke. At the end, we closed the ritual and students picked up the items in reverse of the laying.
This was something my Theatre Company Class wanted to do as part of the Remembrance Day ceremony. It was to be a collaboration with the Music Department to pay homage to Indigenous Soldiers that fought in past wars. Unfortunately, this was denied by our School District. Viki told me to think smarter and that's my play for the next Remembrance Day Assembly. It will be done with respect and support. I am finding a different way.

Literature
Books of wisdom and knowledge. So many wonderful reads and resources.

Exploring the Scenery
My favourite time for exploring photography is early morning/evening. My experience let me capture amazing colours and natural effects. The serenity of the morning was full of surprising effects.

Rich Indigenous of the Sechelt Nation
As a child, it was forbidden to explore the totem poles in Sechelt. The Nation has since began to educate and open parts of its land for exploration. These totems welcome visitors that would've entered the area by water. They are rich in history and artistry.
