Dance
So much to take away from this time. Letting my body know the space and be free to move around has always been a great comfort to me. It makes me feel home and at ease. Remembering to take big breaths and fill my lungs with as much air as possible is something I often forget to do. I was entranced by this and how everyone connected and created community through movement and knowing one's body. I learned that grief needs to flow and that it can't be stopped. The loss of a spouse, of a pet and navigating my body that was still in pain from being hit by a car as a pedestrian, all was surfacing. I moved to get unstuck and I listened to what my body needed. I appreciate the writing and staying connected to the body through "pen to ink". Movement freed the imagination and let the creative side flow. In "Bodypsalm for Valentine's Day" Celeste Snowber writes,
"Dance on the skin of time
caress wildness & tenderness
Witness the ripeness of your own heart
this is no sappy pink
but the passion of deep being
broken open in your body"
I learned to be kind to my body, be kind to myself and to have patience with my body and myself.
