Aesthetic Education

Aesthetic education is a crucial aspect of a well-rounded education. It involves the exploration of beauty, creativity, and imagination, and helps students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the arts. However, there are also issues that need to be addressed in aesthetic education, such as the lack of funding for arts programs in schools and the limited to cultural experiences for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. It is important to continue to advocate for the importance of aesthetic education and work towards creating more equitable opportunities for all students to engage in the arts.

Empower Growth

I introduced my cohort to Central Drama's Check In Stick, aka, "The Baby". This was entirely created by students without my prompting. It was born from a doll that had been so loved and used in many scenes that its body ceased to exist. "The Baby" became dressed for holiday occasions and took on some bling along the way. For the drama students this is the most valuable item in our Theatre. This stick represents all are equal, everyone gets a voice and it creates community. It even has its own social media. Shifra Schonmann notes, "Dewey interprets the term artistic as referring to the act of creation while the term aesthetic refers to the perception, reception, and enjoymetn of a creative act" (Aesthetics, 12)
